Clarkson adopts FY 2026-27 budget

The Clarkson City Commission adopted the city's operating budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year this week.
The city commission held the first reading of the 2026-2027 budget ordinance during its regular meeting Monday evening. The second and final reading was held and approved during a special called meeting Wednesday night.
Per the ordinance, Clarkson projects it will have a General Fund cash balance of $250,000 on hand as of July 1 and will end the year with total General Fund resources (revenue) available of $1,114,553. Clarkson has projected $893,206.69 in total General Fund appropriations (expenses) for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
Additionally, Clarkson projects total Sewer Fund resources available of $697,797.85 and appropriations of $272,373.98; total Municipal Road Fund resources available of $43,200 and appropriations of $49,492.90; and total Parks & Recreation resources available of $106,500 and appropriations of $62,700.
In other business, the city commission:
Adopted the city's amended Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget ordinance.
Approved a proclamation naming June 14-20 "Bicycle Safety Week" in the city of Clarkson.
Received a report that the Clarkson Fire Department had received a $7,000 100% grant to purchase turnout gear.
Voted to have the city's newest garbage truck towed at a cost of up to $1,000 to the Peterbilt dealership in Bowling Green, Ky., for repairs.
Was informed the city's next blood drive will be held July 7 from noon to 5 p.m. at Clarkson City Hall/Community Center.
Entered into executive session, but took no action.
